CPCS A17 telescopic handler certification — the most in-demand ticket on UK sites
The telehandler is the workhorse of British construction, and the CPCS A17 ticket is one of the most requested operator cards by agencies and contractors. Our telehandler training takes you from your first lift to a passed CPCS technical test — theory and practical — at our own training centre in Staffordshire.
You train on telescopic handlers we own and maintain, with a maximum of two candidates per machine. Everything happens in one place: training, HS&E test arrangement, and CPCS testing.
CPCS A17 (Telescopic Handler) is the standard ticket covering fixed-frame telehandlers — what most sites mean by "telehandler driver".
CPCS A17E (Suspended Loads) adds lifting with chains and slings below the forks — increasingly requested on housebuilding sites.
CPCS A77 (Rotating Telehandler / Roto) covers 360° slew rotating telehandlers with winch and platform duties — the highest-paying telehandler ticket.
Experienced operators can train and test in 1–2 days. Novice courses typically run 4 days including CPCS theory and practical tests. We’ll recommend the right length after a quick phone assessment.
CPCS A17 telehandler courses start from £495 depending on experience level and course length. That includes machine, fuel, instruction and the CPCS technical tests. HS&E test and card fees are separate — we’ll give you a complete all-in price when you book.
Passing the A17 tests gets you the Red Card (Trained Operator), valid two years. You then complete an NVQ Level 2 while working — which we also deliver — to upgrade to the Blue Card (Competent Operator).
Yes — CPCS A77 rotating telehandler training on our own roto, covering slew operation, load charts, winch duties and platform mode.
